Expanding access to care across North Carolina
High-quality, prevention-focused care for every community
Too many North Carolinians face barriers to accessing preventive and primary care. People throughout the state report challenges in finding providers, navigating coverage, and connecting to services when and where they need them.
These barriers can lead to delayed care, poorer health outcomes, and higher health care costs – especially in rural areas.
By connecting people in rural and underserved communities to the right care at the right time, we not only help improve health outcomes, but we also help reduce avoidable health care costs and strengthen communities.
Strengthening coverage
With support from the Blue Cross NC Foundation, we're partnering with Care Share Health Alliance to help North Carolinians understand their coverage options, navigate Medicaid, enroll in Health Insurance Marketplace plans, and stay connected to benefits.
Trusted community-based support can mean more people get the care they need – and avoid gaps in their care.
Through NC Chamber's Carolina HealthWorks, we're helping small employers provide their employees with more affordable health coverage.
This innovative coverage model helps more North Carolinians connect to preventive care and the services they need to stay healthy.
Increasing access to care close to home
FastMed® is making primary care more accessible by including it in multiple urgent care clinics across North Carolina.
Since becoming part of the CuraCor™ family of companies, FastMed has doubled its primary care footprint, creating more opportunities for people to receive preventive and ongoing care closer to home.[D]
The Blue Cross NC Foundation is investing in a statewide network of charitable clinics that help uninsured North Carolinians access primary and dental care.
These trusted community providers strengthen local care capacity and ensure more people can receive basic care regardless of their ability to pay.
School-based oral health programs are bringing preventive dental services directly to children.
By helping to identify oral health concerns early and connect families to appropriate care, these programs improve access to services, have the potential to reduce overall oral care costs, and support lifelong health.
Building trust and removing barriers
The North Carolina Community Health Worker Association is critical to expanding care navigation services and strengthening the community health worker workforce.
Community health workers serve as trusted connectors, helping people navigate coverage, access services, and overcome barriers to care.
The Blue Cross NC Foundation is investing in tribal-led solutions that reflect the unique strengths, priorities, and health needs of tribal communities across North Carolina.
Through our commitment to tribal health solutions, we support community-driven approaches that improve access to care and strengthen long-term community health.
